Tension erupted at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Secretariat in Abuja as striking workers disrupted activities, forcing a shutdown of government offices and triggering a dramatic exit by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Workers of the FCTA and FCDA, currently on an indefinite strike over unresolved welfare issues, gathered in large numbers at the secretariat, blocking access and demanding immediate action on promotion arrears, unpaid wage awards, and pension remittances.

Security operatives were deployed as the protest intensified. Witnesses say Minister Wike exited the premises through the back gate of the secretariat as the situation became increasingly tense.
