We rely on public-key cryptography to secure our communications and authenticate ourselves. This tutorial will discuss how the security of these cryptosystems can go wrong in practice, due to faulty implementations, poor parameter choices, and state-of-the-art cryptanalysis. We will draw from applications as diverse as TLS, smart cards, and bitcoins.
