High-Speed Chase: Honda Odyssey Driver Fails to Evade CHP in Oakland 🚓

On January 9, 2025, CHP officers in Alameda County in the city of Oakland California received a notification from a flock safety camera regarding a Honda Odyssey in the area. The Honda was wanted for felony evasion after evading Oakland police earlier in the day. When CHP officers located the Honda, they confirmed it was the correct van by doing a registration on check on the license plate and got CHP AIR 37 overhead before attempting the traffic stop on High Avenue near Penniman Avenue. When the officers activated their lights, the driver attempted to evade them driving erratically. However, with CHP AIR 37 monitoring the pursuit from above the officers were able to disengage and rely on AIR 37 for directions to the van's location. The van eventually turned down a dead-end on Viola Street. Both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle, but as the officers arrived, the driver fled foot while passenger remained at the scene and did not attempt to escape. Following a foot chase, the driver was apprehended without further incident.

The Driver was identified as Devin Savion Jones he was arrested and booked into the Santa Rita Jail on the following charges:
11351 - Possession Controlled Substance For Sale
148(A)(1) - Resist / Obstruct / Delay Peace Officer
2800.2(A - Evasion - Wanton Disregard for Safety
11375(B)(1) - Possess 28.5 Grams or Less of Marijuana (Not Concentrated)
