Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Day 4 of this fifth and final Ashes Test. Australia are well ahead in the game and England need a lot of catching up to do to get back in the contest. It was Australia’s day on Friday as centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith put them in a commanding position. England were sloppy in the field and their bowlers failed to execute their plans with the visitors chasing leather for most of the day.

Usman Khawaja who may have played his final innings in international cricket on Day 3 would have been disappointed with the manner of his dismissal. He missed a full toss from Brydon Carse and was adjudged LBW. The 39-year-old did not consult Steve Smith at the non-striker’s end and opted for a review only to see it overturned unsuccessfully. Cameron Green got a start once again and threw it away continuing his poor form in the series.

On the other hand Beau Webster in his first outing in Ashes cricket is unbeaten on 42 and looking set for a big one. Australia have a lead of 134 and would look to extend their advantage in this Test match. Smith is unbeaten on 129. Australia tightened their grip on the fifth and final Test in Sydney. Brydon Carse bowled with heart and discipline but with little support from the field or his fellow bowlers England slipped well behind the eight ball. Iqbal Sports Live. KM Punk Live. The hosts piled on 352 runs for the loss of five wickets during the day and head into Day 4 with a lead of 134 runs and three wickets in hand. Australia started the day at 166/2 with Travis Head and nightwatchman Michael Neser in the middle as the two overnight batters. Neser fought hard and contributed 24 runs in the 72-run stand for the third wicket before losing his wicket to Carse. Steve Smith then partnered Travis Head as the duo took the attack to the English bowlers. They added 54 runs before Head fell to Jacob Bethell. He made 163 to put Australia on top.

Usman Khawaja missed a full toss against Carse and was dismissed for 17 in his final Test match. Alex Carey hit a few boundaries before dishing out a catch once again to leg gully off Josh Tongue. Cameron Green got a start but threw away his wicket at 37. He too put on a 50-plus stand with Smith. The Australian captain got to his 37th Test ton and took the lead past 100-run mark. Beau Webster walked in at number 9 and is unbeaten on 42 at the close of play. The 8th wicket partnership currently stands at 81. An exciting Day 4 coming up and Australia are sitting comfortably in the driver's seat.

Steve Smith: Ah thank you! Nice batting out there. Pretty good wicket. Nice to start my innings on the back of a great innings from Travis Head. He played beautifully. When you're out there with him they forget about you and I was able to get into my work getting to read the pace of the wicket. Nice wicket. They came with a few plans a few short stuff.

I was just trying to get away from it and rotate strikes. Worked out well today. A couple of nice partnerships. Greeny batted really nicely and then Slug (Webster) came out and kept it going. Hopefully we continue the same way tomorrow in the morning and take the lead past 200.
