As skies lit up across India over the weekend for Diwali celebrations, leaving people awash in festivity, a darker haze settled across the border just like it did on this side. In Pakistan's Punjab province, particularly in capital city Lahore, air quality has declined sharply, prompting concern and emergency response measures from the Maryam Nawaz-led provincial government. Officials in Pakistan blamed a combination of local emissions and pollutants drifting in from India, spurred by Diwali fireworks, and low-speed wind speeds, reported Karachi-based Dawn.
