As air pollution rises during the Diwali season, the Punjab government has launched a comprehensive action plan to combat the smog crisis. With polluted air drifting in from Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Haryana, Lahore’s Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to range between 210–230 — reaching hazardous levels.

Anti-smog guns and water sprinkling operations have been active since last night in key pollution hotspots. Authorities including WASA, LDA, and other related agencies have been mobilized to enforce strict measures. These include covering construction sites, banning the burning of crop residue and garbage, and ensuring proper waste management.
