About this video
Ronald Binge (15th July 1910 - 6th September 1979) was a British composer and arranger of light music. He was responsible for creating the famous "Mantovani's Cascading strings" sound.
The Watermill is a piece of music which was written by Ronald Binge in 1958. The piece was later used as the theme music for a BBC television adaptation of The Secret Garden. "The Watermill" was originally written for the oboe and a string orchestra but may be played on other instruments such as the clarinet. It has placed high in polls of the British public, such as those organised for the programme, Your Hundred Best Tunes. I had the pleasure of working for him as his copyist.
