I wish you could see
You don't like me for me
This hair you think is great
Darling it's fake
You like the shine in my eyes
It's the way the contacts hit the lights
My smile so bright
I bleached it last night
My skin so tan
It came from a can
I wish you could see
I liked the old me
My soft natural hair
It's no longer there
My squinty brown eyes
I didn't have to hide
My somewhat yellow teeth
For I hate the taste of bleach
I made a mistake
Of becoming so fake
I wish I could stand proud and say
That I'm natural in everyway
But as you can see
I'm no longer me
My natural eyes
They shone with light
But now I fear
They glisten with tears
My smile goes down
It's a permanent frown
But I pretend smile away
Cuz darling I'm fake
