People have recently been hating on the writing and voice acting for multiple big indie animated series, proposing the question - why is it all "like that?" and while some takes have been insightful, others have been teetering on talking down to animation fans and perpetuating a narrative that isn't true, especially for the creators - that these creatives only watch cartoons and that's why their dialogue can feel unnatural. So I wanted to throw in my own two cents on this, looking at shows from Glitch Productions like The Amazing Digital Circus and Knights of Guinevere, alongside shows like Helluva Boss and Catching Up!
