In this video, we have a look at the Data Encryption Standard (DES). The DES was the encryption standard until it was replaced in 2001 by the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

Here, we explain all details of the internal workings of the DES like the permutations, the S-boxes, and the key scheduling. Then, we have a look at how to use DES in CrypTool 2. Finally, we again have a look at the internal workings of the DES cipher using the DES Visualization component of CrypTool 2.
