What is Kerberos?
Kerberos is a network authentication protocol that works on the basis of tickets to allow nodes communicating over a non-secure network to prove their identity to one another in a secure manner.

Version of Kerberos Protocols: There are two different version of kerberos protocol- Kerberos Version 4 and Kerberos Version 5

Why Kerberos version 5? (Limitation of Kerberos Version 4)
To overcome limitation of Kerberos Version 4 in two different areas:
Environmental Shortcomings:Encryption System Dependence, Internet Protocol Dependence, Ticket Lifetime, Authentication Forwarding, Inter Realm Authentication.
Technical Deficiencies: PCBC Encryption, Session Keys, Password attack.
