UN Resolution Supports Morocco’s Western Sahara Autonomy Plan 🌍

King Mohammed VI of Morocco welcomed the United Nations Security Council’s resolution endorsing Morocco’s Western Sahara autonomy plan, calling it a historic turning point in the 50-year conflict with the Algeria-backed Polisario Front.

In his statement, the King emphasized Morocco’s commitment to a peaceful, consensual solution and called for renewed dialogue with Algeria. He also urged Sahrawi refugees in the Tindouf camps to support the autonomy initiative, describing it as an opportunity to participate in local governance and national development.

The UN resolution highlights autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the most feasible solution to the longstanding territorial dispute, which has persisted since Spain withdrew in 1975.
