Trump and Global Reactions to WHCD Shooting Incident

A 31-year-old man has been charged following a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night.

U.S. President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and other top leaders of the U.S. were evacuated from the annual dinner at the Hilton Hotel unharmed.

The Republican leader answered reporter questions after the incident, calling suspect Cole Tomas Allen a “lone wolf whack-job.”

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said he expects Allen to be charged Monday, with two counts — assault of a federal officer and use of a firearm during a crime of violence — while a former U.S. Secret Services agent commended personnel at the Hilton Washington for doing “exactly what they were supposed to” during the incident.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — a close ally of Trump’s — expressed relief that the U.S. President and First Lady made it out unscathed, adding “there is no place for violence… against anyone,” despite Israel’s ongoing hostilities against Iran and Lebanon.
