Many hotels in Koh Lanta are located in secluded areas surrounded by dense tropical forests, making mosquitoes and insects prevalent. Although hotels and resorts strive to keep these pests away from their guests, encounters are still likely.

The simplest solution is to purchase a local insect repellent, which is readily available in convenience stores and malls. You can also request it from the hotel, but it is recommended to buy one, as you will likely need it when leaving your accommodation for excursions.

WILD MONKEYS

Koh Lanta is essentially a nature reserve, so encountering animals, especially monkeys, is common. While they're about the size of a child and unlikely to cause serious harm, you will need a rabies vaccine if bitten.

The biggest issue with monkeys is their tendency to raid suitcases in search of food, which can damage your belongings or even result in stolen items. It's crucial to ask your accommodation if monkeys are known to roam the area. If so, be sure to close all windows and doors properly before leaving your room.
