The Louvre Heist: Inside the 2025 Museum Robbery 🖼️

On October 19, 2025, four masked men disguised as construction workers carried out one of the most audacious museum robberies in history. Using a lift truck, they entered the Louvre’s Galerie d’Apollon—the home of France’s crown jewels—through a second-floor window. In just seven minutes, they shattered display cases and escaped with nine imperial jewels of immense historical and cultural value, including treasures once worn by Empress Eugénie, Empress Marie-Louise, and Queen Marie-Amélie.

Worth an estimated €88 million, the stolen pieces contained thousands of diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires. In their haste, one thief dropped Empress Eugénie’s diamond crown, leaving its empty frame behind. Two suspects have been arrested, but the remaining thieves and the missing jewels are still at large.
The Louvre’s Galerie d’Apollon now bears the mark of one of the boldest and most alarming security breaches in museum history.
