So while there are many countries trying hard to join the European Union, did you know theres not 1 but actually 3 countries that have left the EU?
So everyone knows about Brexit, however did you know Algeria was also a member? See just like how French Guiana is considered a literal part of France, hence its in the EU, Algeria also had the same situation. And even after Algerias independence it stayed in the EU for over a decade. only volunteering to leave in 1976.
Similarly in 1982 Denmark joined the EU, and hence Greenland also became a member. However the EU has a common fisheries policy which regulates fishing. Now 90 of Greenlands exports come from fishing, so it couldnt stand any regulations, resulting in it leaving.
