Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov has voted in the Russian Presidential elections - which appear to be a two horse race between him and Boris Yeltsin.
Zyuganov was in a buoyant mood as he cast his ballot in Moscow on Sunday morning.
Election day dawned for Gennady Zyuganov, the Communist candidate who is hoping that today's vote will bring the dawn of a new era.
Zyuganov left his apartment block in downtown Moscow and headed off to cast his vote in what is being billed as a straight fight between himself and Boris Yeltsin - and all that they stand for.
Leaving his apartment, Zyuganov appeared confident of victory - and promised that he would stick to the letter of his campaign platform.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
"Our economic programme is ready. We are going to sit down with the main industrialists and talk things over. And we will carry out the programme in our platform. It's is the holy right of a successful candidate. He is obliged to fulfill his promises to the electorate."

Zyuganov cast his vote at the former "House of Pioneers", named after the old communist youth organisation and still host to large statue of his ideological forebear, Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin.
Polls during the campaign have shown President Yeltsin with a lead over Zyuganov, but new figures suggest the two top candidates are running neck and neck.
