Over a dozen ships, including the USS Vicksburg (CG-69) Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, Turkish Navy G Class Frigate TCG Goksu (F497) and four submarines participated in NATO's annual 'Dynamic Mongoose' exercise in the Norwegian naval base of Haakonsvern and the Sola Air Base, both located in the Bergen area, Monday.
The ships will conduct a variety of anti-submarine warfare techniques with submarines such as the German U-33 (S183) simulating attacks on surface ships through various approaches. The surface ships will then endeavour to locate the approaching submarines.
