Dynamic Mongoose Exercise headed by NATO Off the coast of Iceland
Interoperability for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface capabilities are being trained by the participants.Under the leadership of Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1), naval troops from Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States are taking part with ships and submarines.
Support is being provided by the host country, Iceland, from Keflavik Air Base and Reykjavik Harbour, with participation from the Icelandic Coast Guard. Under the operational direction of NATO Maritime Air Command, eight maritime aircraft are also taking part.In addition, this year's exercise to test maritime unmanned systems for anti-submarine warfare includes the research vessel "NRV Alliance."
