About this video
Toyota has finally lobbed the new RAV4. Itβs hybrid only, sits on the same (though updated) platform with minimal dimension changes, while offering less power and bringing price hikes across the range. So is it really better than the car it replaces?
In short, yes, but we already know that. We compare the new 2026 Toyota RAV4 to the current best-selling hybrid medium SUV, the Hyundai Tucson in Hybrid Elite guise with N Line package. Both are petrol-electric, sitting just shy of $50,000 before on-road costs with space for five onboard.
The Tucson previously beat the last-gen RAV4, but things have changed. Editor Jez Spinks and road test editor John Law follow-up the Toyotaβs launch in picturesque Tasmania with a twin-test to find out.
