Netanyahu: Israeli strikes seek to hurt Iran's nuclear infrastructure, military<br /><br />Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says on June 13, 2025 the country launched Operation Rising Lion, striking key Iranian nuclear and missile sites overnight. In a recorded statement, Netanyahu called the mission essential to stop what he described as a 'clear and present danger' to Israel’s survival. Israel targeted Iranian scientists working on a nuclear bomb, its ballistic missile program and its Nantanz uranium enrichment facility, in an operation that would continue for days, he said. Netanyahu warned Iran is months away from building a nuclear bomb and vowed the operation would continue until the threat is eliminated. Israel said it was also targeting Iranian commanders and missile factories, and declared a state of emergency in anticipation of retaliatory missile and drone strikes by Tehran.
