[Music Video] Director : バーバパパ ---------------- キタニタツヤ コメント 民主主義を正しく機能させるために色んな人が努力をしている中で、商業音楽なんぞに、ひいては文化なんぞに何ができるのか。 例えば、目の前の短絡的な欲望ではなく、ゆっくりとしたダルい進歩の先にある遠～い未来を想う力を養ってくれるでしょう。これはポピュリズムに抗う力です。 例えば、他者への共感力を育んでくれるでしょう。これは排外主義やあらゆる差別に抗う力です。 例えば、現実の複雑さを楽しく見つめられるでしょう。「正義vs悪」のような「単純な物語」が入り込む余地はなくなります。 文化はこんな具合に、民主主義の脆弱性をチマチマ補うように、非常にゆっくりではあるが堅実な力として働くはずです。少なくとも自分のような人間はそう信じて仕事をするべきだと思っています。 我々はちょっとずつ良くなってきているはずだ。 While many people are working hard to keep democracy functioning as it should, what can commercial music — or even culture at large— really do? For example, culture helps us cultivate the ability to imagine a far-off future that exists beyond the slow, sluggish progress of society, rather than focusing on the immediate, short-sighted desires that are present in front of us. This is a force that resists populism. Secondly, it will help nurture our capacity for empathy toward others. This is a force that resists xenophobia and every form of discrimination. Lastly, culture can also help us look at the complexity of reality with a sense of play, leaving no room for “simple stories” like “Good vs Evil” to get involved. In this way, culture works to compensate for the vulnerabilities of democracy bit by bit, and although it might be very slow, it should function as a solid and reliable force. At the very least, I believe that people like me should continue to work with such faith.
