Michigan Lawmakers Propose $900M Boost to Support 1.4 Million SNAP Recipients 🍽️

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit recipients and food pantries are prepared for a potential impact as federal funding for the program expires Saturday.

David Neal Haywood, a SNAP recipient who comes to the pantry at the Comstock Community Center, expressed concern about the potential problems that could arise without the program.

"I don't think you would be ready for it, but if it happens, you got to just keep on going," Haywood said.

However, relief is on the way in Michigan after Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the state will provide $4.5 million to the Food Council of Michigan.
