In 1859, Mārama, a young Māori woman, arrives at a secluded mansion in fog-covered northern England. Plagued by mysterious visions and far from home, she encounters dark secrets and suppressed colonial history. Drawing on the tradition of Gothic horror films, Taratoa Stappard presents a modern, atmospheric exploration of cultural reclamation, indigenous mythology, and personal identity. The film features stunning imagery and a haunting soundtrack that blends orchestral music with the sounds of the taonga pūoro, traditional Māori instruments.
