ICAN Urges End to Nuclear Sharing at NPT2023 🌍

At a time when states parties should be redoubling their efforts to strengthen the norm of non-proliferation and advance disarmament, “nuclear sharing” - whereby certain nations station their nuclear weapons on foreign soil - exacerbates nuclear risks and jeopardises international security. Elisabeth Saar, from Germany (one of the five states to host US nuclear weapons) delivered ICAN’s statement to the 2023 NPT Preparatory Committee meeting in Vienna, condemning this dangerous practice, irrespective of which country is doing it, and calling on all states to join the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. #nuclearban
