Heaven Can Wait is a 1978 comedy/fantasy/sentimental film directed by Warren Beatty and Buck Henry and starring Warren Beatty himself, with Julie Christie and James Mason.<br /><br />Plot: Joe Pendleton, American football champion, dies in a car accident and finds himself in Heaven, in the presence of the official Mr. Jordan. These, discovering that the guardian angel made a mistake by withdrawing the soul too quickly, and that Joe should not have died yet, orders the guardian angel to put the soul back into his body. However, the body was cremated and therefore Joe is offered as an alternative the body of the wealthy captain of industry Leo Farnsworth, who is about to be murdered by his wife. The deal is that the new "accommodation" is temporary, waiting to take the body of some other football player.
