"Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child" is the title of episode five. The fact that Meredith Grey will not be appearing on the show for a short time is the first thing we must unavoidably prepare for at this point. Although Ellen Pompeo's character is being sent back to Boston, she will eventually return to Seattle. The producers have already stated that they will do everything in their power to have as much of the protagonist as possible. As for what you might expect to see in the next episode, there is some evidence that indicates Blue in particular may be acting unethically. Will he face consequences for making an unexpected house call? For the time being, however, we would argue that this is at least something worth considering.

Simone sees a patient who has an unexpected discovery; Blue and Jules tend to a diabetic patient; and Jo handles a difficult case with a pregnant mother. In the Simone account, it seems that this patient has some sort of relationship with her mother. We shouldn't be too surprised that Grey's Anatomy is now largely relying on these specific characters, as the show worked hard to soft-reboot itself with them years ago. After all, some of the long-term objectives here may be somewhat influenced by their backstories.

In the previous episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 22, Jackson went back to work in plastics while Meredith was getting ready to leave the hospital to carry out more research. When Mohanty went outside during a procedure, Blue offered her an olive branch so she could scrub in. After being released, Link was eager to go back to work. While Teddy and Cass decided to improve their relationship, Owen met Nora in the hospital, and the two went out to supper. I was concerned that Sophia Bush's appearance in last week's Grey's Anatomy episode, which concluded with Teddy kissing Dr. Cass Beckman, was an exception. A cliffhanger to tease us, something Teddy would later regret and retreat from. I assumed poor Teddy would be stuck in her marriage to Owen, and we would never hear about her bisexuality again because they have been eliminating queer characters left and right lately—Helm appeared to have disappeared into the parking lot of no return, Beltran died in Jules' arms, and Amelia went on sabbatical.

I'm not sure how long the laid-back, go-with-the-flow Cass will want to be sucked through the drama that tightly bound Teddy is sure to drag her into, but I have a feeling that we might end up in a situation where Teddy develops genuine feelings and Cass is just having fun for a short while. Nevertheless, I'm all for it if it means we get more adorable, queer Sophia Bush on screen, walking around in looks that would make Brooke Davis swoon. "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child," the fifth episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 22, will debut on ABC on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
