Six more projects have been announced that the prime minister claims will make Canada stronger, more self-sufficient and establish the country as a clean energy superpower. The so-called nation-building projects include an Inuit-owned hydro electricity project in Nunavut, three critical mineral mines in New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario and a liquified natural gas facility in northern B.C. Also included is the North Coast Transmission Line that will tie together a conservation corridor in B.C. and Yukon. Aaron McArthur reports.
We don’t often hear from the head of Canada’s Security Intelligence Service, but today, following what his counterparts in the U.K. and Australia do, Canada’s top spy gave the first of what’s expected to be an annual speech outlining the complex threats Canada faces.
The pressure in mounting on the White House and on Congress after Wednesday’s release of documents and emails from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. U.S. President Donald Trump is mentioned in emails by Epstein, but the White House dismisses it as a hoax fuelled by fake outrage. In some circles, though, the outrage is real — including among some Republicans. Jackson Proskow reports.
More than 80 years after a young girl died at a residential school in the Northwest Territories, her remains have finally been brought to her hometown. Alma Beaulieu’s grave is one of at least 50 found near the school. And as Melissa Ridgen explains, her sister spent years working to bring her home.
