About this video
Education Purpose ⚠️
In 1923, France (along with Belgium) occupied the Ruhr region in Germany as a response to Germany’s failure to pay post-World War I reparations. One of the incidents during this occupation occurred during the funeral procession of a French officer who had been killed by German extremists. French soldiers forced German civilians to remove their hats as a sign of respect; those who refused were physically punished, including being kicked.
Seventeen years after that incident, in 1940, Germany conquered France and even captured its capital.
