1. SOUNDBITE (English) George Clooney, actor:
(Reporter: "I'm so curious for you being so politically active, where when did that begin for you, that intersection of art and politics?")
"Nineteen sixty one, the year I was born. If you grew up in the era that I grew up in, the late sixties, I was eight years old, you know, there was the the Vietnam War, it was the women's rights, it was the civil rights movements. If you weren't protesting or out there sort of talking about those subjects, then you weren't participating in the American experience and so I was raised to ask questions. My father always said, 'Challenge people with more power than you and defend people with less power. And if you do that, you win.' And so that was always, you know, so it changes when you're well known, more people hear it. But I you know, I was doing it when I was very young."
