About this video
A very mysterious, romantic and nostalgic film, based on a play, where London in the 70's is very much a character. Mistakingly labelled as a romantic comedy, it actually is a very charming bittersweet romantic drama. A highly successful English banker, who doesn't understand his wife's exuberant nature very well, hires a mysterious private detective (Topol) to follow his American wife (Farrow), whom he suspects is cheating on him. The wife becomes aware of the detective following her and protecting her and she leads him through mysterious London in a sort of a strange game. Soon this attention from the detective is providing her with something she was missing. Is their marriage falling apart or do they have the hidden resources to elevate their love to the next level, as they are guided and encouraged? <br />Starring Mia Farrow, Michael Jayston, Topol, Margaret Rawlings, Annette Crosbie, Michael Aldridge, Jack Watling. Directed by Carol Reed. Screenplay by Peter Shaffer (Equus, The Public Eye, The Private Ear).
