These are a few different ways to measure eye pressure during an eye exam!
Goldmannn applanation tonometry, he non-contact tonometer (air-puff test), or the Icare tonometer are some of the most common ways to measure eye pressure. Goldmann Applanation Tonometry is consider the gold standard at measure eye pressure. It does require a numbing eye drop to obtain the measurement. Either way, it's not a really fun test to have done, but it's very important. Checking eye pressure can help doctors screen for eye diseases such as glaucoma, which can be a "silent theif of sight."
