Drago Suite from Creed II 🎶

The long awaited return of Ivan Drago in the Rocky series was electrifying, not only delivering on what we wanted but also showing the emotional, tragic side to his character and his strained relationship with his son. Göransson's music for the Dragos is rife with Russian zest and flare, played on guitar or solemn, militant strings. It's melody and structure is like that of a military anthem, except for the Dragos it sounds reflective, sad, and driven. It's as emotional as it is villainous, and it becomes all the more intimidating with a percussive pattern that sounds very distorted and almost crunchy, rising up and down in volume. Their theme takes on heroic brass bolstered by vocals, but even in all of it's grandeur it is still underlined with the tragedy of their story.
