This procedure is conducted in office. <br /> <br />Porcelain veneers can be placed on the tooth with very little tooth reduction. <br /> <br />“Porcelain veneers can literally be prepared in the tooth and designed by the dentist,” Dr. Canto says. “An impression is taken and sent to the laboratory and a beautiful lifelike veneer is made that lasts quite a bit longer [than a direct bonded veneer].” <br /> <br />Dr. Canto adds that the main difference between the two types of veneers is that the composite veneer, or direct bonded veneer, will stain over time, which all depends on eating, drinking and other oral habits.
