COSIC seminar – Introduction to Hash Based Signatures – John Kelsey (KU Leuven & NIST)

This tutorial describes how it is possible to construct a signature scheme from a hash function, starting from the beginning. I will discuss stateful hash-based signatures such as LMS and XMSS, and also stateless schemes such as SPHINCS+, and briefly talk about practical applications and standardization. This tutorial assumes only a very basic knowledge of cryptography.
