Colombia: FARC and Government Open to Restart Peace Talks 🤝

Both the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) issued statements following the rebel's release of captured General Ruben Dario Alzate. The FARC statement said the peace talks should not be interrupted and that the government should be consistent and accept the proposal for a bilateral cease fire. Bogota welcomed the general's release as apositive step, rejected the cease fire proposal, but added that government negotiators will meet with their rebel counterparts ton discuss a renewal of the discussions. teleSUR
