California Highway Patrol Recovers Stolen U-Haul During Pursuit in Sacramento 🚓

On March 14, 2025, in Sacramento, California, Dashcam footage showed California Highway Patrol officers stopping a stolen U-Haul box truck on Interstate 80. The vehicle had previously evaded Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies and Roseville Police officers during two separate chases, which were called off due to safety concerns for the public. CHP officers spotted the U-Haul just east of Riverside Avenue and initiated a pursuit shortly after. The chase went on until the U-Haul exited northbound SR-65 at Sunset Boulevard and tried to make a U-turn into oncoming traffic. That’s when CHP officers ended the chase by ramming their patrol car into the U-Haul’s driver’s side door. The two suspects ran from the truck but were both apprehended after brief foot chases. Bodycam footage captures one of the suspects being chased on foot, tased, and arrested by two California Highway Patrol officers. However, bodycam footage of the second suspect's arrest was not obtained.
The Driver was Identified as Michael Spingola, and the passenger was identified as Ronald Costa. Both men were transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center to be medically cleared before being booked into the Placer County Jail.
