Title: Implementation aspects of lattice-based cryptography

Abstract:

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) launched a Call for Proposals for the standardization of Post-Quantum Cryptography in late 2017. Since then, NIST has sifted the candidates over three rounds and has announced the finalists schemes in the category of Key Encapsulation Mechanism (KEM) and Digital Signatures. A key criteria for the selection of the finalists has been their performance and efficiency on different platforms compared to other candidates, and lattice-based schemes have revealed as very efficient overall summing up to 3 out of 4 KEMs and 2 out of 3 digital signatures among the finalists. In this talk, I present the core operations performed within a lattice-based scheme, how to implement them efficiently and what different trade-offs that can be achieved.
