Indian Railways is making changes to over-the-counter Tatkal ticket bookings. OTP verification on mobile will now be mandatory for ticket confirmation. Train chart preparation time will be increased from 4 hours to 8 hours, giving waitlisted passengers more time to plan. This system was first successfully piloted on 52 trains on November 17th. The Railways says this will prevent fraudulent bookings and benefit genuine passengers. Aadhaar and OTP-based verification has already been implemented for online Tatkal and general reservations.
