Assembly Configurations | SOLIDWORKS BEGINNER | Chapter 03: Lesson 05 | CSWA COURSE

Just like parts, assemblies can also have configurations. They can be created through a design table or they can be created manually. While part configurations typically focus on dimensions or features, assembly configurations tend to focus on components, mates, or assembly features. Configurations can be used to represent different versions of a design or can be a powerful way to improve performance, especially when working with large assemblies. In this lesson we will take a look at working with configurations within assemblies.

This lesson uses multiple parts to create an assembly so download the zip file from the link below and extract its contents to an area you can find later. These lesson files were created in SolidWorks 2020, so you will need SW 2020 or newer to open the files and follow the lesson.
