01.07 Alan Turing: The Imitation Game and the Turing Test

When Alan Turing was recruited to participate in the cracking of the Enigma code, he became famous and it started his career in computer science. The movie "the imitation game" tells his story.
In 1950, he wrote an important paper about the future of computers in which he asks the question "can computers think?" and he develops a test referred to as "the imitation game"' which is known today as the Turing Test.

The turing test is a standard test to determine if a person or a committee is communicating with a computer or with a person. Until now, there have not been any machines that have broken the test and were identified as humans although they were computers.

The expectations are that with the current progress related to AI, it may be possible to break the Turing test and better tests may be necessary to distinguish between human and artificial intelligence.
