Ten years after the violent death of her mother, Riley Canterbury struggles to survive in Los Angeles, cut off from her family and haunted by the past. When she learns that her estranged father, a carnival owner who neglected her in childhood, has mysteriously disappeared, she reluctantly returns to her family’s farm in a small New England town. There she reconnects with Eric, a former boyfriend who represents the innocence she once knew, but her return also stirs up unsettling memories. Living on the farm are carnival performers preparing to tour again, as well as a visiting professor researching the carnival’s strange history. When a determined detective arrives to investigate her father’s disappearance, Riley discovers that the case may be tied to something darker and more sinister. Nightmares plague her and those around her, blurring the line between dream and reality. As occult rituals come to light, Riley is forced into a terrifying confrontation that reveals the truth about her father’s fate and the evil lurking within the carnival.
