Chandrababu Naidu made history as the first Chief Minister in India to build two Greenfield international airports. In the united Andhra Pradesh, he planned and constructed the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad and later the Bhogapuram airport near Visakhapatnam. His vision and hard work made these airports possible. For context, building a second airport is not easy. Mumbai, India’s commercial capital, planned a second airport in 1990, but it took 25 years to complete. Bengaluru, India’s Silicon Valley, has been searching for land for a second airport for over 10 years, but it is still not ready. After Chandrababu became the first CM of the newly formed Andhra Pradesh in 2014, he decided in 2016 to build Bhogapuram airport. Land was acquired, approvals were obtained from the central government, and construction started in 2019. However, when Jagan came to power, construction was stopped. Shockingly, in 2023, Jagan laid the foundation again for an airport that was already half-built. In 2024, Chandrababu resumed work and completed the airport in just 18 months, with high-quality standards. A trial runway run is planned, and the central aviation minister will visit soon. His long-term planning, patience, and commitment show that real leadership is about vision and execution, not politics.
