About this video
In a major step toward strengthening public healthcare, N. Chandrababu Naidu has introduced an advanced “early warning system” for diseases in Andhra Pradesh. Just like weather departments predict cyclones and heavy rains, this new system aims to detect disease outbreaks before they spread widely. The center, called Disease Monitoring and Decision Support Centre (DMDC), has been set up at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and was inaugurated by Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav. Its main goal is to identify early signs of infections or fevers in any region and stop them before they turn into large-scale outbreaks. This is not just a regular office but a high-tech hub built with an investment of ₹5.73 crore. It uses advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence and predictive analytics to study the past five years of health data. These tools help forecast which diseases are likely to spread in specific areas during particular seasons. A dedicated team of data scientists, biostatisticians, and engineers continuously analyzes real-time data from hospitals across the state. If there is an unusual rise in patient numbers, the system quickly identifies the disease type, spread rate, and risk level using visual dashboards, maps, and graphics. Earlier, disease outbreaks were often detected too late. But with DMDC, authorities receive instant alerts, allowing the government to act quickly by sending doctors, medicines, and resources to affected areas. From Primary Health Centers (PHCs) to major hospitals, all data is integrated into a real-time digital dashboard, enabling direct monitoring even from the Chief Minister’s office. The system is also linked with the central government’s Integrated Health Information Platform, ensuring early alerts about diseases emerging in neighboring states. Additionally, collaborations with national and international health organizations provide insights into global health trends. Beyond emergency response, DMDC also tracks long-term health issues like malnutrition and anemia, helping shape future healthcare policies. Overall, this initiative follows a powerful principle: prevent diseases before they occur, making it a strong protective shield for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
