Islampur in Old Dhaka is one of Bangladesh’s oldest and largest wholesale fabric markets. Active since the Mughal era, it generates Tk 25,000–30,000 crore in yearly trade, peaking during Ramadan. Both local and imported fabrics are sold at wholesale prices. Despite economic challenges, Islampur remains a vital sourcing hub and a key learning ground for new entrepreneurs.
পুরান ঢাকার ইসলামপুর দেশের অন্যতম প্রাচীন ও বৃহত্তম পাইকারি কাপড়ের বাজার। মোগল আমল থেকে শুরু হওয়া এই মার্কেটে বছরে ২৫–৩০ হাজার কোটি টাকার ব্যবসা হয়, বিশেষ করে ঈদ, কুরবানী আর পুজা কে কেন্দ্র করে। দেশি থ্রি পিস, শাড়ি, লুঙ্গি থেকে শুরু করে চীন ও ভারত থেকে আমদানি করা কাপড় এখানে পাইকারি দরে পাওয়া যায়। অর্থনৈতিক ধাক্কা সত্ত্বেও এটি নতুন উদ্যোক্তাদের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সোর্সিং হাব হিসেবে টিকে আছে।
