Sounds like a Phil Spector song, doesn't it. But, in fact, it was the first song this US duo released after parting company with Spector. It did share the same writers however (Mann and Weil) who had begun writing the song and only finished it after Bill Medley asked them to do so. Medley then went on to produce the song in the Phil Spector style. He did a good job - it gave them their second US #1 hit.
