About this video

Minutes after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad finished a much-anticipated speech to parliament that addressed the wave of protests that have swept the country, a woman approached his car as he was being driven away from the building and began to yell through the driver's-side window.

Men in Assad's security force appear to grab the woman by the arms, but they don't pull her from the car, and another man who comes and attempts to handle her more forcefully is yanked away by other men.

It was unclear what the woman was saying, or even whether she supported or opposed Assad, but the Syrian state television footage of the incident shows how the camera zoomed out to avoid showing the fray, and the broadcast quickly faded to black and then began broadcasting generic aerial images of a city.
