Did you catch this about Rise of the Guardians? Unfortunately, the movie's failure caused a loss of approximately 350 jobs at DreamWorks. Although the animated film did have a dedicated fan base and earned around $300 million, its high production cost resulted in a whopping $80 million loss for the studio. As a result, the movie's anticipated profits that were supposed to support future DreamWorks projects fell through, and that may be why we've seen fewer original films from the studio since 2012.
