वह पल जब मलेशिया के पीएम ने हाथ जोड़कर प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को आसियान शिकर सम्मेलन को संबोधित करने के लिए बुलाया।अपने संबोधन में पीएम मोदी ने कहा, 'इक्कीसवीं सदी हमारी सदी है, भारत और आसियान की सदी है.' उन्होंने आसियान को भारत की 'एक्ट ईस्ट पॉलिसी' का मुख्य स्तंभ बताते हुए कहा कि भारत हमेशा आसियान की केंद्रीयता और इंडो-पैसिफिक पर उसके दृष्टिकोण का समर्थन करता है. पीएम ने टिमोर-लेस्ते का आसियान के नए सदस्य के रूप में स्वागत किया और 2026 को 'आसियान-भारत समुद्री सहयोग वर्ष' के रूप में घोषित किया. उन्होंने कहा कि भारत और आसियान की यह मज़बूत साझेदारी वैश्विक स्थिरता और विकास का सशक्त आधार बनकर उभर रही है.
