Elon Musk’s xAI Introduces Eco-Friendly Cooling Solution for Memphis Data Center 🌱

Elon Musk’s xAI announced plans Thursday to build what it calls “the world’s largest ceramic membrane bioreactor,” according to Benzinga. The system will cool its Memphis data center using 13 million gallons of reclaimed wastewater daily. The system will divert untreated water from a nearby facility to cool the Colossus Supercomputer, addressing backlash over xAI’s prior use of gas-burning turbines. Critics have argued that the existing method increases pollution in Black-majority neighborhoods. The wastewater-based solution aims to reduce environmental impact as the company scales up operations. xAI recently launched Grok for Government after securing over $200 million in Pentagon AI contracts. Grok is also available in all Tesla vehicles in the U.S., powered by AMD Ryzen chipsets.
